ITV needed to upgrade their content protection technology as it's important because it allows ITV to keep all your favourite shows on ITV Hub copyright safe. ITV have upgraded their content protection technology, and this new technology can’t run on this TV box. There's a lot of conflicting information about this, but it's possible that users with BT or TalkTalk contracts may get a better deal than those who buy a Humax box from a retail source. The ITV Hub app is no longer supported on YouView Generation 1 devices which includes the TalkTalk TV Plus Box model DN370T. In particular you should take note of the forthcoming developments for IPTV channels which will be arriving this summer. The Talktalk deal is the cheapest - the effective cost of the box is about £160. As xmb has said you can configure your system to use the Talktalk router as the modem (and with a connection to the YouView box) and then use your Airport Express for everything else. (The ethernet spec says maximum length is 100 metres!) So the engineer was talking rubbish. My connection is by cable and it's about 8 metres long. Hi morrisminor, I have a TalkTalk YouView box and TalkTalk router. I'd be prepared to pay the c£250 to get a Humax - but don't want to be saddled with something that won't work with the Airport Extreme.ĭoes anyone have experience of the Humax working with a non-multicast router?Įdit: I'm talking about the Humax DTR-T1010 BTW My question today is - does the Humax YouView box have the same router requirements? Any advert I've seen for it just says you need a "broadband router". I didn't really want to switch to TalkTalk's own router, especially when he told me it wouldn't have enough power to support an 8 metre ethernet cable - needed to reach the TV location. But, as I don't use a TalkTalk router - mine is an Apple Airport Extreme - he was very reluctant to even start the install saying the box needed a multicast enabled router. When YouView first came out with TalkTalk I signed up and had their guy come out to fit it. Apologies if this has been covered before - I did do a search.
